Piña Cloth

Very fine strands of glimmering fiber are ply-joined by gnarling fingers preserving the tradition. Root to root, end to end, each repeatedly tied together in a weaver’s knot. The traditional Filipino textile, piña, is made by the fiber taken from the leaves of a pineapple called a Red Spanish. It is very light, only weighing 20g a meter, and its unique shine and refinement is certainly that of jewel.
